Besançon Double and Multiple Star Data Base

Overall description

The query of the BDB double and multiple star data base through lists of identifiers is performed by means of e-mail. This possibility has been enabled to allow a user to supply a list of identifiers of multiple stars "in batch" and to get the informations he or she needs at once (avoiding multiple queries through web forms). In order to obtain the informations about a list of stars from the bdb data base, you must :

• if this has not been done previously, subscribe in sending a "mail" to  bdbquery@obs-besancon.fr with subscribe or register as Subject. In the body of the mail, you must indicate your name in the first line and the name of your institution in the second line ; example:

Subject: subscribe

• send a "mail" to  bdbquery@obs-besancon.fr with any subject (except "subscribe", "register", "unsubscribe" or "unregister") containing the list of star identifiers and, possibly, instructions restricting the informations to be sent back to some selected data types or to some specific catalogues (one instruction per line ; see detailed description of the syntax) ; these instructions must be inserted between two tags <REQUEST> and <EREQUEST> ; example:
